Hello, my name is Brendan. My nick is bmcm, which is an old IBM PROFS naming convention: the first letter of the first name combined with the first three letters of the last name. I'm divorced. I was married for ten years and I am a non-breeder, LoL. I was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1961.  I live in Queens, a borough of New York City. The actual community is named Rockaway Beach. It's a barrier beach off the southern coast of Queens. I stumbled into #40+TennesseeFun on August 5, 1999. I don't remember the person with whom I first chatted, but that person told me to look for StarLady because she liked to help people. Later that evening, I got a lot of help from her and many others in the channel.

These wonderful people make IRC interesting and fun. Since then, I have considered this my home on IRC. You can usually find me in #40+TennesseeFun or #MP3Jazzfest. For most of the last twenty years, I worked as a manager for a computer service bureau in the advertising industry. In August 2001, I moved briefly out to the beautiful city of San Francisco. That was just before September 11, 2001. However, job opportunities seemed few and far between, so I came back to New York. Now, (in the words of Bert Bacharach and Hal David) I find myself “parking cars and pumping gas.” Such is life, but I keep plugging away. I play paddleball, a game similar to handball, except the ball is harder and you use a wooden or graphite paddle. Touch football on the beach is another of my favorite pastimes. Even though I'm pulling middle age behind me these days, I can still cover my brother (14 years my junior) in the flat, as long as he doesn't get past me...no catch-up speed! The New York Jets claim a special place in my heart. I love to play with operating systems and hardware. I enjoy reading books about network design and configuration. Henry Miller is my favorite novelist.
